Fat Tuesday 2010

"Ours is the responsibility to show our gratitude by the actions of our lives."
-Thomas S. Monson, "Gifts", Ensign, May 1993, 59
Today is Fat Tuesday, the end of Carnival or Mardi Gras & Lent begins tomorrow on Ash Wednesday. My decision was to read the scriptures daily for Lent. My cousin Janelle said she would read the scriptures with me.

Our bishop has challenged us to read The Book of Mormon by Memorial Day. OK, I checked that out, it is 104 days. At work the other day the bookstore had a project from one of the LDS wards. They had brought in a booklet, "Read The Book of Mormon in 100 Days" & wanted it copied & stapled to give to their Young Women. The new value of Virtue's Value Project is to read the entire Book of Mormon. I have a booklet somewhere that our ward Relief Society did a few years ago, but I can't find my copy. I took one of the booklets back to the copier & copied it for me & a coworker.

So, Janelle, Lent begins tomorrow, Feb. 17.

Reading schedule for the first four days for the BOM follows:
  1. Read Preface (Title Page), Introduction, Testimony of Three Witnesses, Testimony of Eight Witnesses, Testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith
  2. Read Brief Explanation, 1 Nephi 1-2.
  3. Read 1 Nephi 3-5
  4. Read 1 Nephi 6-10
There are also thoughts & questions to ponder & places to write your responses.

I totally forgot my promise! Thaks for the reminder. I will totally do it with you. I don't know if I will finish in 100 days, but I will read every day.

You don't have to do the BOM challenge, you didn't say you'd do that, LOL. You just said you'd read every day with me.
