Another update

Don turned away from his computer & said, "RaNae, do you want to update Facebook with today's total?" I told him yes, but it isn't Facebook I've been updating. Today's total is 1,570%, which says it is not melting, but accumulating. This happens at the end of April or May, not June.

It's nice not to have to water our lawns though. It's also nice not to have to worry about going in to work today :D Dreading tomorrow though.

How high's the water?

The update today is 1,406%!! Whoa! There is also a flood alert issued!! I haven't seen "Lake Franklin" lately.

Reminded me of the old Johnny Cash song, "How high's the water, mama?" When I googled it, the name of the song is "Five Feet High & Rising." The first line is very appropriate:
My mama always taught me that good things come from adversity if we put our faith in the Lord.
I'm glad the Lord is taking care of us with cool days interspersed with warm days or we'd have all the snow pack in the mountains wash right down out of there & Lake Bonneville would return.

Note: Lake Bonneville was a prehistoric pluvial lake that covered much of North America's Great Basin region. Most of the territory it covered was in present-day Utah, though parts of the lake extended into present-day Idaho and Nevada.

Hot summer night

Just 2-3 weeks ago we were complaining about all the rain & wishing it would warm up. Well, we got our wish, now everyone's moaning about how hot it is.

Last night, Don turned a fan on in our bedroom, but he aimed it right at me. I had a hard time getting to sleep, thinking of Eddie, besides it was so hot. I was exhausted though & slept until about 4:30 when I had to visit the facilities. I came back & couldn't get to sleep because of the fan. I pulled a light quilt up on me to block the air from the fan. Just a short time later, Don got up. He wandered around the house for a few minutes & finally came back to bed. I heard him mutter, "Where is she?" I spoke up, "Who?" wondering if he was looking for Marsha, the little gray cat that sleeps on our bed. And he answered, "You!" I poked my hand out from under the covers & waved at him, "Here!" He crawled back in bed, LOL

This morning, Nick came in & woke me up because he thought I had to be to work at 8 & I was late. No, it was back to my usual time at 9 today. Anyway, when I threw off that quilt, I was drenched with sweat.

Don admitted this evening that he wandered around the house a couple of times looking for me. He didn't see that mound in bed that was me, LOL.

Moving in May, 5/24

Today we went over to Montpelier to decorate Frank's & Bertha's graves (Don's parents).

I think my sons have a death wish. They have no fear of cops giving them tickets for reckless driving & no fear of driving 80 through the canyons, Strawberry, Williams & Emigration, much less out on the open highway. Don-Mike drove his '80 Trans-Am aka Nan's Am with Mother & I as passengers on the way over; Nick drove his '97 Camaro with Don & Eddie as his passengers. I slept most of the way over. I asked Mother how she did & she said she hung on. Both cars have T-tops & I was glad I had a hat to pull down over my eyes. The sun wasn't shining, but that's a lot of windows. Nick was concerned about his wheels touching the wheel wells & the noise it makes, so Eddie rode with us on the way home. Don wouldn't have had any head room in the back of the Trans Am.

I didn't walk today. It rained quite hard. I got soaked walking from the church to the car after church. I fixed baked spaghetti & Nick didn't want to come eat because he doesn't like spaghetti, sigh. I know he doesn't like regular spaghetti but I baked it. I had $14 to spend on 2 meals last night at the store. Spaghetti is cheap.

I bought green onions the other day at the store, came home & carefully cut the roots off of them & put them in water so I could plant them. I was going to plant them yesterday, but forgot in the rush of decorating graves. I'm hoping to plant them tomorrow.

Rain, rain go away

We have had record-breaking precipitation this month. Rain almost every day since May 1. Tonight when I went down to feed Mufasa, it had started to rain again. I guess I shouldn't complain, but I am. Murmuring is the term. That's what Laman & Lemuel did in The Book of Mormon.

Moving in May, 5/2

As many times as I ran back & forth between Jim & Donna's house & the party room, I feel like I moved for 15 minutes. It just wasn't consecutive.

Today was the Porter siblings party. It was such a rainy day. Then this afternoon, it cleared off & was a beautiful, sunshiny day. I took Mother & Luana down in Don's car. It sounds like I'm going to have to buckle down & clean out my car because Donna wants to take Mother down to see their cousin Elva Larsen in Brigham City. Luana wants to go too.

Everyone was to the party except Larry's wife Madge. She was sick. Larry rode down with Keith & Onda, Maxine & Bernard. Vaudis rode down with Dorin & Lucy. Lucy drove. Donna & Jim's granddaugther Alashandra came to drop something off & we talked her into bringing Matt & Baby Zeke in to meet us all. They are blessing Zeke tomorrow.

We attended Burkley Balzar's baptism & confirmation this morning in Franklin. I THOUGHT Amber had said that Burkley would be baptized first, but no such thing. Whitney 2nd Ward was the host ward & the host ward's children are always baptized LAST!!

So, once I got over the disappointment & irritation, I decided that I'd just run home & get my rice pudding & laptop. Which reminds me, the laptop is still out in the trunk of Don's car. The rice pudding is a recipe I got from A Year of Crockpotting. Mine turned out very runny. I used skim milk instead of half & half or whipping cream. That may have been why. When I make it again, I'll use more rice.
