Shady Home

On Facebook this evening, one of my friends posted a couple of pictures of some cute creations she had made with a link to her blog. The pictures were darling & her blog entry"Naming Your Home," was awesome. She got her inspiration, like we do in blog world, from How Does She?

A while back I named our house Shady Home. We probably ought to name it The Monson Place. Many years ago, Jim & Donna gave Mother & Daddy a plaque that says Monson. It was tacked on the porch & has weathered & been there for years. When we were having Cub Scouts about 14-15 years ago, it was there. One of my Cubbies came, but wouldn't come in because it said Monson, not Bartlomé. Not that he would have known how to spell Bartlomé, he just knew it said Monson & went home.

I made a plastic canvas house number when we lived over in Woodruff. I thought it was really cute, but we didn't live there long enough to get very worn. Lance & LuAnn Nielson have the same house number. I planned to give it to them, but ... it's in a box somewhere, a common comment around here. I made a house number for Mother & Don-Mike because the house number on Aunt Vi's house is small, right up under the eaves & painted white, same color as the house. You can't see it.

I made the numbers just as big as I could & have it still fit on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Cut the numbers out, placed them in the hard laminate & laminated it. It is taped on their front screen door.
